A cross-party committee has written to Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner urging stronger oversight and faster action on post-Grenfell building safety reforms. The letter calls for an independent body to monitor progress on safety recommendations, better inclusion of affected residents—especially minority and overseas communities—in decisions about Grenfell Tower’s future, and urgent reforms to under-resourced building control services. Concerns were also raised about delays to safety funding, lack of support for disabled residents, and cultural issues within fire services. The government has been asked to respond before Parliament’s summer recess.
